The sky of the Scottish Highlands was an inky black, stars blotted across it, encompassing the waning sliver of the moon beaming down onto to rolling hills and valleys. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry pierced the night sky, the towers of the mighty castle extending upwards, reaching out for the stars. Through the window of one of the towers, a young girl sits, perched on the windowsill whilst four girls are asleep in each of their assigned beds behind her. A paraffin stove in the center of the room crackles behind her, giving out a low, warm glow. The girl herself appears tired, squinting as she's fighting to keep her eyes open. At several times, she appeared to of fallen asleep, only to awake a few moments later.

Gradually, the sound of hooves could be heard approaching. The girl went rigid, pressing both her face and palms against the glass of the window, her eyes now fully open. The sound grew louder and louder, until an almighty sound like the crack of a whip sounded and pastel blue carriages appeared out of nowhere, spiraling through the air, pulled along by majestic winged horses the colour of fresh snow. The sound of hooves was tremendous now, as the horses circled down towards the ground, the carriages following gracefully behind. They smoothly landed and the girl watching from the window high above jolted out of her seat and drew her wand from her sleeve, pointing up to the ceiling.

"Lumos Maxima!" She cried, the room filling with a dazzling white light. The blinding light surpassed and a bright ball of light hung midair in the center  Three of the girls who had been asleep wearily awoke, with confused grunts and eye rubbing. One of them, who happened to be face-down on her bed practically out-cold, did not stir.

"Izzy, they're finally here! Izzy! Beauxbaton's has arrived, you useless lump!" The girl yelled, waving her arms about excitably. When Izzy did not wake up, the girl looked deflated, her shoulders shrugged and eyes narrowed. She walked over to Izzy's bed and sighed as the remaining girls scrambled towards the window, peering down at Beauxbaton's ornate carriages and horses. The girl then sighed again, muttered something about laziness and gave Izzy a sharp prod in the side with her wand. She jumped up with a cry, sending stray pieces of parchment flying.
"I'm up, I'm up! Christ almighty, what's your problem?" She asked, gingerly poking and massaging her side.
"The carriages have arrived! You were supposed to be one of the students going down there to greet them!" The girl replied, placing her hands on her hips.
Izzy pursed her lips and sat in silence for a few moments, before shrugging and then sprawling herself back over the bed.
"I'll greet the Ilvermorney students instead. No biggie." And with that, she fell back asleep, the girl rolling her eyes and mumbling "Unbelievable" before walking back over to the window where the others were chatting excitedly.

xxx xxx xxx CELESTE
xxxx xxxx ────── ✧ ── ──────────────────────

xx INKED NAVY STRETCHED FOR MILES, draped over the night sky like a huge blanket. Dazzling little balls of dust danced in the near blackness, blinking from thousands of light years away, gleaming down upon the landscape from the star-spangled sky. A waning crescent, the moon glinted in the dark, deep lake of black, its light scattering as it caressed the rippling surface in the slight October breeze. Though the utmost breathtaking view was the castle, looming in the early morning, stood sturdily on its hilltop perch. Countless towers reached into the sky, daring to touch the stars; flickers of oranges and yellows blinked in the windows; winding paths and staircases weaved in and out the hilly terrain towards different areas of the outstanding stone structure.
xx A pale forefinger rested on a cold glass surface, absentmindedly tracing a trial that a multitude raindrops created, eyeing the scene of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry curiously. A crowd of students clustered around her, from the other side of the jet black carriage, peering over to study the scene. The students of Ilvermorny School broke out into a loud chatter of excitement as they flew closer towards Hogwarts Castle, the three carriages carrying the selected students drawn seemingly by nothing. Apparently, black winged horses were attached to reigns at the front, with a skeletal structure and something in the utterly mysterious creatures meant that only those who had witnessed deaths could see them. Furthermore, the Disillusionment Charm was cast upon the three carriages upon departure from the location of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry—Mount Greylock in Massachusetts, U.S.
xx “Celes! Move, lemme get a look in!” A brunette female spoke, stealing a glimpse at the castle from between the heads of students. The blonde—that might as well have been sleeping, sat huddled against the window for warmth—perked up suddenly.
xx “Patience, Roni,” Celeste spoke up, sitting up abruptly as her friend, Veronica, interrupted her train of thoughts from next to her. Reluctant to move from her comfortable position, she simply nudged the boy's knees in front, using her foot, uttering for him to move. Roni seemed pleased; not so much the boy, though. But Celeste could've sworn she heard her friend muttering the words of, “you lazy ass”.
xx Then, the moment that the carriages landed surprisingly softly on the green outside Hogwarts School, just beside the large body of seemingly black water. A flurry of blues and reds from their robes erupted from the carriages before one of the three professors travelling with them immediately demanded the cluster of twenty to thirty students to calm down. Silence ensued at once, the tall female professor with a short black bob bisecting the crowd and exiting her carriage. Upon command, around ten students issued from each carriage, accumulating into one chattering cluster.xx Feet landing on the ground, Celeste studied her surroundings with nothing but pure curiosity, until an instruction was given to ascend the winding stone staircase lined with lit torches. She wasn't quite she what to think, quite, apart from a messy amalgamation of emotions. Anticipation, exhilaration, a sense of intrigue and somehow a little nervousness wormed its way into the mix as well.

Hints of day peaked over the Scottish mountains as Ilvermorny arrived. From behind a cliff face the sky was streaked with pink and orange, though the sun remained hidden.

Ilvermorny arrived in a similar manner, with carriages drawn by certain magical creatures. Ilvermorny's carriages were jet black, compared to Beauxbaton's pastel blue, and had ornate gold patterning in comparison to Beauxbaton's more subtle silver accenting. Said carriages were pulled by threstrals, though few people saw the animals themselves. They were skeletal, yet powerful and stallion-like, with black webbed wings to match their dark bodies. Ilvermorny did not perform any aerial acrobatics and instead headed straight for the ground, moving with deep purpose.

The girl sat at the window of Gryffindor tower squinted as she struggled to keep her head propped up by her hands.
"Carriages without horses? What a school..." She mumbled, yawning and then standing up, walking over to Izzy's bed. She grabbed the edges of her duvet and gave it a sharp tug, the quilt sliding out from underneath Izzy and rolling her onto the floor. She hit the floor with a dull thud and a grunt.

"Ow." Came Izzy's muffled voice, as with some difficulty she rolled over and narrowed her eyes at the girl standing above her. "What was that for, you arse?"
"Ilvermorny." She responded, looking smug, with her hands on her hips. At this, Izzy scrambled up from the floor, with a cry.
"Well why didn't you wake me up sooner, Leila!?" Izzy yelled, now rifling through her trunk in an attempt to find clean robes.
"Next time I won't stay awake for you all night, then." Leila muttered, collapsing onto her bed.
"You're coming with me, by the way." Izzy said, flinging a robe over her shoulders and making her way towards the door, grabbing her wand off of the bedside table before she did so.

With an immense groan, Leila pulled herself off of her bed and followed Izzy out of the door. Izzy slid down the bannister of the stairs leading to the girl's dormitories and crossed the common room, where a third year student lay asleep in one of the armchairs, alongside a large cat curled up beside the fire. She flung the portrait hole open and climbed through it, not bothering to help Leila through it, and broke into a run, her robes flowing behind her.

They made it down within a few minutes, taking only one wrong turn as one of the corridors had decided to block itself off for the morning. Izzy stumbled out of the main doors, with Leila following behind a minute later. The headmistress, Minerva McGonagall giving the both of them a sharp look before turning back towards the Ilvermorny Carriages.
